A Life Insurance Adviser might know who Banksy is...

There are two new Banksy murals in London. The murals honour the legendary Jean-Michel Basquiat as his first UK-based show is due to start exhibiting at the Barbican on the 21st of September.

Banksy took to his Instagram to confirm the murals are his, & he referred to them as an (unofficial) collaboration. In another post he talks about the Barbican being a place that is normally very keen to clean any graffiti from its walls.

This got me thinking about Banksy and the fact he is still unknown 27 or so years after his work started popping up. There have been so many stories over the years of who he may or may not be, and outside of his immediate circle of trust who could actually know his identity?

There’s a good chance that if the elusive artist had Life Insurance then his Life Insurance Adviser helped him with his policy could likely have worked out that it was him on the other end of the phone.

As you would expect Life Insurance Advisers have to be thorough when getting the information to get the best Life Insurance cover for the client.  Due to the types of questions that are asked, I’m pretty sure if Banksy does have Life Insurance the adviser that helped him might have worked it out.

Let’s have a look at some of the key questions that are asked that might point towards finding out the identity of Banksy.

Name

Obviously one of the first questions asked is what your full name is. In recently years there has been a lot of speculation to say Robert Del Naja from Massive Attack is Bansky. This is due to they both have clear links to Bristol, their art is very similar, they share the same friendship group and there has been clear trends in Banksy works popping up in places that Massive Attack had gigs.

Over the years there has been multiple names rumoured to be the mystery artist but none with any solid evidence. If any of these names were to crop up it might be a sign that the person on the other end of the phone is the artist in question.

Height and Weight

When being advised on Life Insurance something that is important to know is the height and weight of the new policy holder. This can help with finding out information like their BMI which gives a good indication into the policy holders lifestyle and if they are considered ‘healthy’.  This is also a great indicator to see if someone might fit Banksy’s description, there have been a couple of images of Banksy over the year included in his book and films obviously his face is covered but his height and weight can be easily estimated from the images. This information could be the essential piece to the puzzle of working out who Banksy is.

Address

Your address is needed when getting Life Insurance so that all the paperwork can be sent to you via post. This may also be one of the biggest clues when it comes to working out if someone is Banksy because if you have ever been to Bristol you will know it’s pretty difficult to turn a corner without seeing some of the iconic street artists work. You will also know if you have ever watched his feature film ‘Exit Through The Gift Shop’ even with a voice changer on his Bristolian accent can be heard clearly. Banksy is from Bristol so if the address happens to be in Bristol it could be a good indicator that he’s Banksy.

Occupation and Income

Obviously, this is a very important question when it comes to creating the right Life Insurance cover for an individual but also it could be one of the biggest clues an adviser could have in working out if Banksy is applying to have Life Insurance.

The reason being is that both his occupation and Income would be out of the ordinary. Let’s start with his occupation I’m not sure if Banksy himself could say what his occupation is as he is both a street and gallery artist, he also makes films and has books and if it’s already not strange enough he recently opened a hotel in Israel called ‘The Walled Off Hotel’ this was following his parody theme park called ‘Dismaland’ in Weston-Super-Mare.

So I think it would be fair to say Banksy trying to describe his Occupation may make it obvious who he is. If the description of his occupation isn’t enough maybe his Income would confirm his identity because from what I can see Banksy has no direct form of an income especially when it comes to his street murals, it’s usually the owner of the building that makes money on the piece and not the artist himself.

Any intention to work or live outside the UK

This question is asked as it could affect the policy for someone trying to get Life Insurance. This would be the final piece of the puzzle as if you are a fan of the street artist you will be aware he is famous for doing murals and artwork in some of the least expected places in the world and as previously mentioned he is a hotel owner in Israel so surely he is making frequent trips to the hotel.

So there you have it, my reasoning behind why I think if anyone would know Banksy’s identity, it would be his Life Insurance Adviser. This also shows you how easy it is to actually take the steps towards getting a life insurance policy, after these questions, there is a handful more and before you know it you and your family can have the protection you need.
