Being fit: to some it’s just a natural part of their life, a natural side-effect to eating salad and being part of the local football team - to others, it’s a heavy weighted chain of broken promises wrapped around the neck, to be shrugged off and ignored in a haze of cooking programmes and cake.
If you are of the former group, Sport Relief is looking for your help.
If you are of the latter, Sport Relief is here to help you!
From the 17th to the 23rd of March, the enthusiastic people who strive daily to improve the lives of some of the poorest communities around the globe would like your help to track a billion steps taken by the nation with their Billion Steps Challenge.
You needn’t try to take on the entire billion steps yourself – the idea is to manage a billion between us all each day – but if you download the Billion Steps Challenge app and allow it access to your smartphone’s health system, your wanderings will be counted towards the whole.
At Quick Quote Protect we are so happy to see initiatives like this – not only will it raise a ton of money to help some of the people all over the world who are struggling through their daily lives, but it will also inspire and help some of us make healthy improvements to our lifestyle. Who doesn’t want to get fitter?
Having a healthy body and healthy heart leads to a longer, healthier and happier life. It’s also no secret that those of us in the life insurance business like our customers to live longer and happier lives!
Each day, the Sport Relief app will upload your step count to the central system, to be added on to the daily total. The app says that the average person walks 6000 to 7000 steps a day – if that’s the case, they’ll only need 150,000 people to sign up before they’re almost guaranteed success! Why not be one of them? Head over to the official Sport Relief website and download your app right away.
With just under 48 hours to go until Sport Relief week kicks off, it's time for YOU to get prepping for the Nation's Billion Steps Challenge! Are you going to help us beat a billion steps every day from the 17th - 23rd March? Download the app to take part: https://t.co/od16fjO5er pic.twitter.com/YMhUzmM3Vs

And if some rigorous walking isn’t your thing, why not try a spot of Skydiving instead?!
It’s never too late to try something new. On the more extreme side of Sport Relief, Welshman and former professional rugby player, Gareth’ Alfie’ Thomas, teamed up with a group of people over the age of 60 and they all went skydiving on 9th March.
It's been a big day for @gareththomas14 and our #SilverSkydivers. To find out what happened, look out for the BBC documentary airing during the week of #SportRelief, 17th to 23rd March.

Dubbed the Silver Skydivers, Gareth and his brave volunteers faced their own fears as they leapt from 12,000 feet to land in the glorious Welsh countryside. Why not challenge yourself and give something like that a go?! Quick Quote Protect has its headquarters only a few miles from Gareth’s native home, and we were all rooting for him last week, but we can’t quite help asking if his team have all taken out adequate life insurance cover.
As a team of over 60s (Gareth himself excluded), all of the Silver Skydivers are entitled to Over 50s life insurance cover – and as it’s a guaranteed acceptance policy, the fact that they're all risk-takers doesn’t even affect their premiums!
Of course, while Gareth doesn’t yet qualify for an Over 50s policy, a brief conversation with one of our advisors will get him the very best in insurance cover – something his loved ones will no doubt appreciate if he decides to hurtle to the Earth again, with his safety in the hands of little more than a thin sheet!
Being healthy during the week of Sport Relief has its benefits for sure, but hopefully it's also enough inspiration to keep up the good work and maintain a fully healthy lifestyle going forward. We certainly believe in promoting good health, whether that's from a regular walking routine or the high energy adrenaline rush of skydiving.
So put the cakes away, turn off the television and get out there with all the other great volunteers around the country and help Sport Relief meet its incredible target!
If you would like any advice regarding life insurance - whether for a more sedentary lifestyle or for 50s cover for extreme sports, give one of our expert advisors a call now! And don’t forget to pop over to the Sport Relief website and pick yourself up their app to join in the challenge!
